Past & Future

My introduction to woodworking started in my grandfather's shop in Montana. Some of my earliest memories include sitting in front of his wood stove, watching him create unique pieces with his extensive tool collection. He taught my brother and me how to plan, measure and cut. My grandfather took great pride in his projects. He gave everything he made the same meticulous and loving care, from making piggy banks for the grandchildren, rocking chairs for his children, to a decorative church pew. My grandfather's influence on my woodworking can be seen in my quality, attention to detail, and love for what I do. As a tribute to his memory and impact, the shop name comes from his beloved pet canary.

I started woodworking full-time in 2008. I have diverse experience, having worked for a small three-person shop, ultimately helping grow the business to working as the foreman for a 15-person shop. Experiencing this business growth allowed me to develop the full range of skills, from design, technical build, and install. My breadth of projects ranges from cabinetry for mudrooms, laundry rooms and full kitchen installs, to custom tables for cafes, and art installations.

I moved close to Mt. Baker and started to create custom projects for the local community. I wanted to exclusively work on custom projects to focus on the quality and creativity afforded to smaller scale shops. These projects blossomed into Canary Woodworks in 2022. My goal for Canary Woodworks is to create timeless and top quality pieces that will be loved for generations.
